Beginning on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 7 a.m., Central Avenue between Barksdale Street and Cooper Street will be completely closed to through traffic to allow a railroad contractor to repair the railroad bridge that extends over Central Ave. This closure will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Delays are to be expected. Local traffic will have access on Central Avenue up to the closure at the railroad tracks. Motorists who normally use Central Avenue between Barksdale Street and Cooper Street are advised to use an alternate route during the days of closure. The signed detour route will make use of Barksdale Street, Southern Avenue and Cooper Street.
